Get involved

Normally this is the page where I inform you that this is a grassroots effort, and we're organizing at the street level to take back our government. I don't think I'm the only one tired of hearing that, especially when it is not true, because involvement should not be about one candidate or one issue above all else.

When I say people need to be more involved, I don't mean going door-to-door, telling people how to vote, or trying to get people to vote for a candidate. I'm talking more about personal involvement. In others words, keeping up with issues and what is going on in the world by researching candidates and alternative points of view. It is about educating yourself before you educate others, finding common discussion points with others, even people that do not hold your same views.

These reference sites should give you a general understanding of our country's election process:

If it's been a while since your 6th grade Civics class, these sites can give you a refresher on our system of government as well as keeping you up-to-date on the latest political happenings. Once you've taken this information and added your own sources, please pass that on to others.

Grassroots organizations actually need to be started at the street level, and not by parties, specific candidates, or agendas. It should be about Ohioans coming together to express what they want to their representatives. The opposite of a grassroots organization are lobbyists and other political entities that still seem to be able to find large sums of money in this current economic climate.

Now that you are inspired to educate yourselves, and you are still interested in helping me achieve ballot access, the next hurdle is gathering 5,000 signatures. On the Contact page, you can add a message in the Write to Us section, letting us know if you would like to volunteer to circulate the petition, or work with the campaign. Currently, the main focus is obtaining our signatures, but in the future we will need to have people distributing signs, passing out flyers and getting our message out.
